Is Spring REALLY going to be the selling season this year?

By September 2, 2020 Market Update

With the arrival of spring, the real estate market is generally set to blossom in a big way.

Spring is traditionally referred to as “The Selling Season”. But will it be this year?

It is a commonly held belief that spring is the best time of year to sell, with many sellers often holding out until the end of the year to list their properties. This year with the Stage 4 Restrictions placing a lot of buyers and sellers plans on a temporary hold, we may see a flurry of new properties hitting the market.

With the arrival of warmer weather, the gardens are looking at their absolute best and sellers are able to present their properties well so that the first impression a potential buyer gets is a very favourable one.

Buyers tend to be more active later in the year, as many hope to be in their new home by the holiday period. Families like to be settled in their new home so that children can be enrolled in their new schools before the new year commences. This certainly can make for favourable selling conditions.

One well-known real estate principle is that it is wise to be a buyer when other people are selling, and to be a seller when other people are buying. The great thing about Spring is that this applies both ways. It’s a time when some people are selling and others are buying, resulting in it being the prime real estate season.

So whether you plan to buy or sell property, make up your mind to make the most of Spring and get the ball rolling immediately.
